About
The North Star Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a nonprofit group dedicated to enhancing the educational experience at North Star Elementary by fostering strong school-home connections, encouraging parent and community involvement, and providing both volunteer and financial support.
Why Join the PTO?
Every parent and staff member is automatically a member! There are no dues, and all members have voting rights (one vote per household). Your participation—whether big or small—helps create a thriving school community.
What We Do
Organize fun and enriching events like STEAM Night, Fall & Spring Book Fair, Trunk or Treat, Family Movie Night, Family Dance Night, Read-A-Thon supplies & prizes, Bingo Night, Running Club, Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week, and Navigator Night..
Raise funds to support educational programs and classroom needs like Academic Enrichment Grants, Field Trips, Curriculum Funds, Battle of the Books, Swag (t-shirts for all students), Assemblies (Portland Opera, Think Wild, OMSI), Author Visits (Spring & Fall), Artist-in-Residence, Science-in-Residence, Galaxy Parties, Earth Day, Field Day, Playground Equipment, Polaris Funds, General Supplies (STEAM and Workroom), PE Supplies, Staff Wellness, and Walk & Roll.
Build a strong parent-teacher connection to improve the school environment for all students.
Leadership & Meetings
The Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Events Coordinator, and the Principal) oversees PTO activities. Board meetings are held monthly, and general PTO meetings (where all parents can vote) occur throughout the school year.

We are proud parents of North Star Navigators, committed to making North Star Elementary a truly exceptional school. Our PTO Board is elected annually, and we’re always excited to welcome new members. Like many of you, most of us juggle full-time jobs while volunteering—but it’s the dedication of our parent community that makes everything we do possible.
If you're interested in getting more involved, please feel free to connect with any of our board members or reach out via email at info@northstarelementarypto.org.
